The Applefest Board of Directors is a 100% volunteer group dedicated to working year-round to put on Applefest every September in La Crescent, MN. Each director is assigned a committee(s) at the beginning of the year which they work through to plan that part of the festival. If you’re interested in becoming part of the Applefest Board of Directors, we encourage you to fill out this application below. We will conduct interviews shortly after Applefest wraps up and new Director terms start in January. Thank you for your interest, we look forward to meeting you! Application deadline for Applefest is November 1st of each year.

Board Requirements and Expectations
The information below is not intended to discourage anyone from applying to the Applefest Board of Directors. Instead, it is provided to help prospective board members understand the level of commitment involved. Serving on the Board of Directors is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our community, and we want every applicant to have a clean understanding of the responsibilities, expectations, and time commitment before joining the team.
The Board of Directors meet on the second Wednesday of each month, and twice in August and September. Meetings begin at 6:30pm and last 1-3 hours. As a director, you are expected to attend meetings. Will you be able to attend? If not, please explain.*
During the year, the Board of Directors participate in many parades and banquets. You will be expected to attend these events such as Oktoberfest Maple Leaf and Torchlight parades, Irishfest Shamrock Dinner, and Winona Steamboat Days parade. Will you be able to attend? If not, please explain.*
There are several working days held during the year. A variety of different tasks will need to be done ranging from light to heavy work. Do you have any specific limitations?*
Set-up week is the week prior to Applefest and varies depending on the year. Being present on grounds is an expectation of all Directors to assist with volunteers as well as to help setup scheduled tasks. Do you see potential problems with the week prior to fest? If so, please explain.*
Tear down occurs the days following Applefest. Directors are expected on grounds for the entire day until tear down is complete. Do you see potential problems? If yes, please explain.*
Will your employer support your involvement with Applefest?*
During Applefest [3rd full weekend in September] you are expected to be on grounds. Will your employment allow this time off?*
